Loud & Low 8th Gen Civic - Time to say good bye to her.

After being humbled by the lack of brain power due to the lack of sleep, finally figuring out the issue as to why it wouldn't power up before, it was time to finally turn her on!

Turned the key, and bam, Remote on. That was a good feeling!!! At 4:00am on Saturday morning!!!

That was pretty much it on the pics. I buttoned everything up, tried to tune it and failed miserably that night/morning. So I took it to Autorama and Jon hooked it up.

There are some things I'm not happy with, the wiring for one. I don't like how unorganized the battery banks look. I'm thinking of a plan to fix that. We'll see if I can make it work or not.

I think I've documented well on here, in places, how unhappy I am with the 360, and I do plan on changing that out when money becomes available. For now I'll leave it, but it's proving to be a dangerous piece in the system. If they changed the remote, I'd be happy with it I think. Truly. But I've had too many bad experiences already where a notch is a dramatic difference on moment, then subtle the next. There's too much money and effort in this already to have something get ruined because of that. Ok I'll move on.

I'm very unhappy with the doors. I like the design, I like the layout, but I'm a noob when it comes to building them so I ended up taking the door panels off to do the fleece etc, and they warped. Made for a terrible time getting them back on. I had to end up using screws instead of the pins. Which really isn't an issue, as I planed on doing that anyway, but just with inserts, not metal screws. The other thing was, I got to moving too fast and didn't think about speaker depth. I wanted them to be reverse mounted, and by being reverse mounted, they were about 5/8" too deep. So I had to surface mount them to get the panels on. Not a terrible thing, I'll know for the next time.

But I think that I'm going to hit up a yard and see about some new panels, and do these over again. I should have better success this time for sure.

As I suspected, I can't get the trunk lid to open up with the new actuators. I'm working on a solution, but it's gonna take some time. SO we'll see what happens.

I have lots of work left to do for sure. Seal it off, do some real wiring, fix the mess that's back there, do the rear deck trim, make trim panels, and a whole slew of other things to do and re do. So this project is far from over.

Thanks to everyone who's supported me through this far. I appreciate it. Things are most likely going to slow way down now. LIttle stuff here and there, but not the updates like there has been. I'm going to attack this one project at a time and get it done.

MORE TO COME!!!!

Daaaaumm! LOTS of clean wiring man! I love how the subs look in there with the wiring and tech flex, looks extremely clean and unified! Doing all the little details like painting screws and heat shrink with techflex and soldering all the lugs on a time crunch. Big props on that my frined! Watched all the vids on FB and looks like it sounds really good! and good luck adding sound deadener to the roof, I just finished doing mine last weekend and the hardest part was getting the head liner out lol! Mine required having all the seats and pillar panels out of the vehicle so I hope if you end up doing that it goes well. Keep it up man!

Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are!

I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating!

Oh I'm sorry, did anyone wanna see a video or three???

There are some issues still with the car. I've basically stated it in the video. However I've since talked to Mike Singer and we've decided the first coarse of action is to swap the belt out. Lots of play and probably some slippage there. The other thing about the belt is the new route on it takes about half the wrap away. It's a long shot, but I'm going back to the old routing on it, shorter belt, and we'll see if that helps at all.

Video number one!

Video number 2 - I talk alot, so you guys probably already know, but if you want to skip all that, the music starts at 4:30. The first part of the video I do a sort of walk around and explain everything.

Video number 3 - Again, talking, so music starts at about 3:20

Not all my videos will have that much talking. I only did this time because there's so much going on in the last few days, I know I've not taken all the pics I should've and so I'm trying to explain what's going on.

Ok that's it, I'm done. I'm headed out to the auto parts store for belts and exhaust hangers, and more. Thanks for tuning in folks!!

Thanks. it was some work, but I'm happy with it in the end. The enclosure is the one piece I'm very happy with. Even the amp rack on the floor isn't jumping out at me. Not sure why, but it's not. The enclosure was meant to be the center piece, and it just does stand out to me. So I'm happy with it.

Yeah the roof is gonna be a bitch I know it. But it rattles already, I can hear it, and it just needs it. Pretty much everywhere else was done before, so that has nothing on it. I also need to do something about the headliner anyway. I think alot of air is goign under it and making it flap. So I'm sure it's only a matter of time before something rips or breaks. But that will be a project for an up coming weekend. I would love to have some flat stock aluminum bent to the contour of the headliner, and then be able to screw it into the roof. But I don't know if that's doable or not.

LIke I said, lots left to do.

I will say one thing that helped with my Sonoma and roof rattleing is the sound deadener for sure, but "great stuff"! usually what rattles is the sheet metal of the roof bouncing off of the supports that run along the sides and across the the middle. so if you fill in the voids of the supports or at least just fill in the gaps between the roof and supports it will basically glue the roof down a bit :) but definatly throw as much deadener on there as you feel you can especially on the big open areas where its paper thin, you done deadener so you know whats up haha. Silicone also works to fill those gaps if you are worried about the expanding foam getting everywhere.

Then got some foam tape for the seams and edges. This will help seal it up. But also keep the ability to remove it when necessary.

Ran 2 down each side, and one on the back seam. There was only room for one. But they all connect and intertwine.

Now it's ready for the screws to anchor it down when they dry.

Got a little tip from Jamie on this one. The towels worked out well. Even on the flocked floor. Saved a lot of holding and grunting. Took the subs out to get the wires all tidied up.

Some techflex, SHCA Sub shrink. Each shrink has a (+) and a (-) to identify which is which easily. Makes for a nice clean install.

Little 8ga terminals to solder on.

And one sub is done.

I had also made a mistake that someone caught on the amp . Well they were in now, so this just kind of goes to show how the removable floor really works well. I was able to get to these and swap them out with very little issue.

All fixed.

Driver side looking the same way! Time to button her up!

Got my orange screws all put in. Really got excited at this point because I felt like the screws were a nice touch. It's all in the details boys and girls! I should've done something about the sub connections too. But at this point I was running out of time.

:good:

Dude, this trick literally saved my back and fingers!

Much easier way to load 54lb subs into an angled baffle then trying to hold with one hand and screw with the other..... :trippy:

Install is coming together GREAT, that box looks awesome and the wiring is CLEAN!

Keep it up Sir :drinks:
