damn someone was busy this weekend!

I was actually shocked. I had finished with the sunroom, the wife was just home from her sister's with the kids, and I gave her the rundown of the progress for these last two days. She said sounds good. So I said, I think I wanna stop working on this and do some work on my enclosure. TO MY ABSOLUTE SHOCK, she said and I quote "you've been working hard on this, take some you time on your stuff, go for it"! :thanx: So what you're seeing, these last sets of pics, were the last hour and a half of the evening. POUNDED THAT SHIT OUT LIKE A $2.00 WHORE!!!!!

Problem now is, I have all these troubleshooting ideas in my head, and it's too late to do anything about it tonight! GRRRRR There's always tomorrow I guess!

I figured out what happened, not that a half inch will get it in the car, but it might. It's kind of a long story, but now that I look back, the piece I had to recut on the front, and pieces I cut, that you guys didn't see and had to recut cause I thought my measurements were wrong, were correct but my back piece was wrong. I did the design on sketch up and forgot to re measure the back piece on it so when I printed it out for my cut sheets, it was wrong there. JUST DAWNED ON ME while I was in the shower.

So here's what's up. When I was doing the design I planned on an internal height of 14.5". However, when I did part 1, front part, I was only able to get 13.5" out of it, cause of the frame in the car. So I had to adjust the design, which I did. But when I went to make this back part tonight, I got mixed up. SO I made the height on the back piece 14.5, hence why I had to fix that top part on the front piece. Didn't have to be fixed, it was right, my back part was wrong. So, it's a half inch too tall. So that has to be fixed. Not the end of the world, but it still has to be done.

Will a half inch get it in the car, I have no idea. It might, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm also going to change the configuration of the rear piece, so that I can put the back walls together, because I have an idea for the future if I can get the money for it. So I would like to be able to remove those if possible.

So I'll have to get those fixed in the next couple days and see where I sit after that. I'll update when I can. Thanks for hanging with me guys! I'll throw a sketch up of the enclosure design up. I've kind of torn it apart so I have to fix it so you guys can see a before and after pic of it.

Ur box design just made my head explode....... Still trying to figure out what the gap in the two shells( its a corner small square) is for. But its all turning out so good and u keep findin ways to make it work. Props to that.

Ok so before I go to bed, I said eff it on the old design. I just fixed it the way it's supposed to be and went on. I'll post those now. This is just a projection of what I'd like it to look like. I have to figure out if I'm going to have enough strength in it with the plexi windows etc. The reason I was double layering the entire box was to not have any internal bracing if at all possible. Other than maybe some 45's. SO i'll have to see if it's going to be doable with the glass.

Here we go.

Front view of Part 1, couldn't do the angles on the upper corners, but just imagine them being there if you will please.

So you see here the two parts, one is the front that slides up to the back of the seat, or just up to the frame. I still have room for another finish baffle trim between it and the seat itself.

The reason I have done this in two pieces, is because all in one piece I wasn't going to be able to get it in the trunk, and with the possibility of upgrading or anything in the future, I wanted to be able to keep the front piece, and then change out the rear piece if needed. Just gives me some more flexibility.

So I have the two pieces. The front part has the inner walls that are 2" shorter than the outer walls. The rear part has the inner walls that are 2" longer than the outer walls. This gives an overlap when they're connected so I have a spot to be able to screw them together and not have to do any angle screwing or anything like that. They'll simply screw into the other piece.

Once that's done it looks like this!

So there you have it. This is pretty much the look I'm going for. The front plexi, you see just above, is just 1/4" lexan, that I'll put in the front baffle. This will have a DC logo, or something else on it, I'm not sure yet. Just thought it would break up the huge space between the subs. That's there so I can space the subs out far enough to keep them spread out from the port.

The windows in the back will be 3/4" Plexi. I'm thinking instead of doing individual windows, I'll just buy an entire sheet and do the first back piece in that, and then cut out the second back piece to make the windows.

Now my question in that is, will that still be strong enough to not need internal bracing? Anyone wanna take a stab at it? I'm open to comments!

Ok that's enough for tonight, I'm off to bed! More tomorrow I hope! Night!

the two gaps, in the corners of the front piece I'm assuming you mean, are because the car frame itself, angles down right there so i couldn't do a square corner. I had an angle to deal with and I wanted every possible spot of air space that I could get out of it. The problem is that it's a compound miter cut and it's a crazy angle that I don't think I can get with either my chop saw or my circular saw. Matter of fact those side pieces that I cut were with my circular saw and they're at 51.5* angles and those still weren't sharp enough. So It's got to be close to a 60* angle. The only thing I have that can do that is my lob wedge!! LOL. So I think I'll glass it in, and then go back with some duraglass to support it. The little angle pieces that I put on, or ears as I think I called them, were just to add another wall to box that area in so that I could do that.

I'm trying! We'll see where the next few days takes me! LOL

I'm tired now. I have to go to bed. Night!

Gotta cut down the height by a half inch. After that I'll be re configuring the back panels so they can be put on separately.

After that it should be able to fit in the trunk in 3 pieces. The inner and outer shells, front part, and then the two back panels last.

I am having these ideas in my head about the ability to remove the enclosure if necessary, but I'm not sure. I probably need to figure this out first before I go on to other things.

Holy puzzle-box Batman...! :o

I thought mine was complex and required 100 verification measurements before any cutting.

Lookin' good though. Sometimes you have to brainstorm and try some things out to see what you like and what works.

Paper designs only go so far...

I agree on the idea of a whole plexi sheet on the back.

If I could do mine over, I'd make the whole back wall in my box plexi rather than a smaller piece bolted to the MDF back wall.
