scooter99 Posted November 10, 2013 Author Report Posted November 10, 2013 Front top piece. This one is a little small, but I'll make the adjustment for the rest of them. All of these joints are going to be widened about 1/16" each, so this will widen out a touch. I'm thinking about putting in some deadener too. But we'll see how much room I have when it's done. Here are some of the things I picked up from Depot yesterday for this. A piece of steel to do the brazing on, a square, an extension hose for the gas, and some brazing rods. I actually picked up the brown one a while back but found out that the aluminum brazing is mainly used with the blue ones. Not sure if the brown package is usable or not. I'll give it a try. All the pieces ready to be sanded a bit and then be put together and brazed. Marked the fence on my chop saw so that I could do one box before I cut 5 more boxes worth. That way if the first box isn't going to work or isn't strong enough, I don't waste time and money by cutting all these other pieces. Next step is to clean off this bench, from the truck project. After that I'll get some durrock down on the bench and put the steel plate to it. Hopefully with the durrock on the bench, I can prevent too much heat getting to it and not cause a fire. Just in case I'll have a fire extinguisher handy. After that, I can get the first box done up. So that's it for tonight. Tomorrow I'll get some more done. Hopefully have a box put together to show you guys. Thanks for checking in! Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build

goodvibez Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Lookin good man, nice cuts! Hope your not planning on that magnetic square to hold your aluminium pieces together while you brazed. I know your using a piece of steel as a platform but that is still going to be a b!tch to hold up some of those pieces. Best of luck! Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! I know your using a piece of steel as a platform but that is still going to be a b!tch to hold up some of those pieces. Best of luck! No I wasn't. I was actually just using it to push up against. I know that aluminum isn't magnetic. I have pictures loading and videos uploading now. It's been a long day. Failure and re planning all in the same night. But I think I'm back on track, at least moving in the right direction, I hope. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 Ok let's get on with it. Pics and videos coming up! Going to get the pieces brushed up with the wire wheel on my bench grinder. And we have failure. Complete failure. I'm sure it's operator error, but I can't figure it out. I'm defeated officially with this one. I guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board. So now we're back to the drawing board. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build

scooter99 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 So here's a little video I shot explaining what the new design is. Pics after are described as well. At the bottom there, you may not be able to see it, but I had some L-brackets that held the floor up. Decided to use those to put a piece of wood on as a floor. This is the space that the batteries are supposed to fit in. Got a piece cut to put the batteries on for mock up. it's only 1/4" mdf, but it'll work for now. The floor base will be 1/2" birch. So it's not much thicker than this. Got the 3 batteries stacked. They're not in the cubby itself, but this is giving me an idea of height. There's some space above the batteries. This is good. Again, I only need about another 1/4". Measuring it, to the edge of that, I have about 5/8" - 3/4". So plenty to spare without any cutting. Looking at it, measuring behind the wall, I have about 1 1/2" to cut up if I need to. So here's the second battery moved back to the back of the fender. Gives me about 2 1/2" - 2 1/2" more depth. This is the deepest battery, the top one won't go back as far. SO I'm going to estimate about an 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" to play with for depth. Needed to remove that foam in there a bit, to get the second battery to slide over as far as I could get it. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 That's good. So you can see the, there's some trimming of the metal right there that needs to happen for the bottom battery to get in there. Wider view. Here it is all the way back. Also, it's probably going to have to go with the angle of the fender, and not squared up like the bottom one. Here you can see the top two angled and the bottom one is squared up. I'll have to see how it works when I get the box built. Here's another way I could go if I end up needing 8 total batteries. I love these little guys. Box building tomorrow. I think I'm definitely moving in the right direction now. Thanks for checking in. More tomorrow. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
