caraudiolove Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 I was wondering out on how much port area 2 12" kicker comps needed for a 4th order design thanks
SnowDrifter Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 This will sound douchier than I mean it to be, but I don't think those subs are worth the cost of the MDF needed ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
caraudiolove Posted December 2, 2012 Author Report Posted December 2, 2012 whatever budget build come on!
SnowDrifter Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 try for around 14sqin of port per cube of ported volume, with the port being as close to "square" as possible ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
caraudiolove Posted December 2, 2012 Author Report Posted December 2, 2012 would 32.63 square inches of port area be good or should their be more?
SnowDrifter Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 Here's the not so simple answer... What are you tuning to? How much power are you running? And how big is the ported side? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
321slapinbass Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 need to be more unless your box is 2 ft^3. you want 14-16in^2 per cube so take the ports width x height total and divide it by the box volume and see what you get. 2000 Dodge Durango Subs - (2) SKAR VVX 15 D2's Box - 7.2 ft^3 @ 33hz, 120 in of port Sub amp - Digital Designs M2 @ .5 ohm Mids + Highs - PRV Audio Mids + Highs amp - Hifonics 2000.4 Headunit - Alpine CDE-100 Equalizer - Clarion EQS746 Batteries - Mopar group 27 + (2) C&D 52ah Wiring - 1/0 BIG 3, (2) runs 1/0 Alternator - Singer 250A 147.79 dB @ 35hz - burp - sealed on dash 147.47 dB @ 35hz - music - sealed on dash YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/321slapinBass/videos
bkolfo4 Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 32 sqin for the pair in a bandpass. Not enough. And you can ignore all of the answers above that state X sqin per cuft. Port are is not related to box size [PERIOD] Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
