pk222
I just installed my Aq amp. So far seams like a great amp but the clipping indicator on the bass knob starts coming on really early. I swapped this out for my old performance teknique 800 rms amp. Haven't changed anything other than the amp and I've run this setup for months. I'm running 2 older alpine type r's at 1 ohm. Any ideas what I can check? And for this being at least 400 watts more than my last amp it sounds about the same. I've heard nothing but good reviews on aq so i'm thinking I missed something. Help me out guys!
TylerParrish
400 watts is barely an audible difference my man. And I have my amp tuned with the DD-1 and it says it begins to clip way before I reach full tilt. Nate Futuristic
My 2200d clip light would do the light clipping at the point at which the dd1 found dis. pk222
Ok. Just wanted to make sure I didn't have a problem. First day messing with the amp and didn't want to fry it if there was an issue
SilveradoGoesBang
If its blinking its just a soft clip if its solid its a hard clip. These are very very close to being dead on with a o scope. pk222
Any chance that could be caused by a burnt coil or anything else I can test? my subs are kinda old and abused. just feeling like that light is coming on way to early
soundstream15
i got the same amp. my gains are set with the dd-1 some songs the light will flicker alot, others it will be solid. you cant trust those clipping knobs. its good if you dont have your amp tuned with the dd-1 or o-scope. just dont let it be solid red. i dont use mine anymore.. pk222
I just tuned by ear for now with the bass boost at 0. I'm going to try to get it done with an o scope soon
Soundqubed/AQ
If the clipping indicator just flickers as the frequencies in the music change you are not really into clipping. If the light glows solid back it off until it just flickers with the frequencies changes in the music. dj
