Guv Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 Also how did you like that port position. I was thinking either that style port but towards the top of the box or a slot down the middle in between woofers
aleroking Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Also how did you like that port position. I was thinking either that style port but towards the top of the box or a slot down the middle in between woofers people had said it wasnt optimal, but im louder than other vehicles with top ports and center ports . it seems to work well in this car . as there is a ton of space between the port and seats and center console so the port isnt being blocked at all. i also did the bottom port for ease because of the length i didnt want to do a bent port. but i ended up cutting it in about half. Appreciate all the pics. I had actually just read your build log for the first time lastnight. Do you think that extension into your trunk was absolutely necessary? I'd like to keep my entire trunk for space for batteries and amps of course. And my apologies for not remembering but were you able to seal the wall completely off with trim pieces? This is something that concerns me cause I want it to look as clean as possible when done edit: Just saw the last pic with the top baffle being the trim piece, I like that alot and looks very clean that way i got like 5 cubes just from the extension so it would of been sbout 8 cubes without it. deffainetly needed it. and i still fit 6 batteries and 2 3500s back there but aint nothing much else fitting besides maybe a gallon drink. loli made the trim panel afterward it comes off to take the woofers out because its pretty much impossible to mount them with the flush mount. my figners are to weak. i had sealed it off with foam before i put the last baffle on. 2 fi btl 18s on 2 crescendo 3500s walled in a 2dr 2000 alero build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141663-2-walled-btls-18-on-7k-in-a-2000-2dr-alero/
tacomaguy1 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 If your going to compete at all, subs on passenger side with port vertically on driver side. If not the other ways work OK for daily, have seen port middle work good Team Flex Issues

If not the other ways work OK for daily, have seen port middle work good this is what im going to test next. but like i said my bottom port has beat driver side ports, top ports and center ports all with the same amount of power and in some cases more power than me. 2 fi btl 18s on 2 crescendo 3500s walled in a 2dr 2000 alero build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141663-2-walled-btls-18-on-7k-in-a-2000-2dr-alero/

I was thinking either that style port but towards the top of the box or a slot down the middle in between woofers honestly either would work but if you can get enough width id try the drivers side port. when i try it im going to have to diagonally mount the woofers for a port wide enough. 2 fi btl 18s on 2 crescendo 3500s walled in a 2dr 2000 alero build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141663-2-walled-btls-18-on-7k-in-a-2000-2dr-alero/
Guv Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 Not really building for numbers or to compete. Just a daily demo car. What about tuning? Somewhere in the low 30s is my idea.
tacomaguy1 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 I'd be willing to bet the slot port on driver side would meter louder What metering style you compete with? Team Flex Issues
aleroking Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Not really building for numbers or to compete. Just a daily demo car. What about tuning? Somewhere in the low 30s is my idea. the car seems to wanna peak really low sealed up . i was tuned at like 28 and peaked at 28 sealed like 34 door open. i raised the tuning like 4 hz to 32 and now peak at 32-34 sealed and 40-42 door open. so id say low 30s would be prime I'd be willing to bet the slot port on driver side would meter louder What metering style you compete with? i hope so but a 54 isnt bad on under 4k, i meter sealed db drag 150.8 @ 34hz door open on dash 154.2 @ 42 hz door open kick (outlaw) 155 @42 hz 2 fi btl 18s on 2 crescendo 3500s walled in a 2dr 2000 alero build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141663-2-walled-btls-18-on-7k-in-a-2000-2dr-alero/
aleroking Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 little trick tho dont start going crazy on the foam like i did id make one of your baffles come up like a beauty panel but leave a 1" all the way around then foam from then baffle to the car the beauty panel on top of that. save alot alot alot of foam lol. idk what i was thinking i went through like 15 cans of foam 2 fi btl 18s on 2 crescendo 3500s walled in a 2dr 2000 alero build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141663-2-walled-btls-18-on-7k-in-a-2000-2dr-alero/
