Ok I know the title sounds stupid and I know it goes in the doors and inside the cab, BUT, if I put it in the doors, does it usually go on the first skin (where the speaker mounts) or on the outside skin (the body sheetmetal)? Or both. And are there any recommended brands? I've heard second skin is good but not much other than that. Thanks

I cannot personally vouch for any other deadening brand besides dynamat; however, I just ordered some Fatmat "Rattletrap." I haven't had time to install it as school, work, and other car problems have been denying me the ability to install.

On to your question about where it should be placed, I would say if you have enough put it anywhere and everywhere you can. I have mine on the trunk lid so far and it's a noticeable difference and if you check on youtube, just putting sound deadening on the trunk lid alone cause an immediate increase in spl levels.

If you can put both sides that's best . Deadner is put on places that flexes the most, and stops rattles .. Makes your car sound 5x, possibly louder. Fatmat is garbage ... Dynamat is good . Second skin is what I use . Good stuff ! Audio technix should be good

I'd suggest you post in the Second Skin forum. Jon from secondskin will definitely help you out, as will most other supporting vendors here on SMD

Ok cool well it looks like I'll be starting with the both parts of the doors and I'll check out the Second Skin forum too. Do I buy the second skin from their website or is there a place where everyone usually gets it?

Fatmat is rebranded peel and seal

Secondskin is one of the best, and Audio-Technix is very good for the price, I run it in my car.

Find out what flexes the most on your car and work your way down from there, it's a very simple process. If it flexes put deadened on it if it still flexes you have to get more creative sometimes with different building materials

I can vouch for the 60mil Audio Technix ....it was night and day with the rear hatch once I put the 60mil on....now as mentioned you want to put it where it rattles/flexes most and work your way from there...now with my hatch I could fit my hands into the areas behind the interior panel and onto the exterior body panel...now the doors were alot harder to get into the nooks and crannies behind the interior panels but I did the best I could...

Second Skin is the top brand but if your looking for a more budget friendly option Audio Technix 60 or 80mil are great options
