Ported box spec for sundown

I plan to build a box for a sa8 v2 the The specs say .5-.75 ported @35 hz with this being said. Is this what everyone is building there boxes to. Or do I double that to 1.5. Iv been told many different things and I'm just trying to get a general knowledge of the route I should go with my box.

Also what does everyone suggest for the port area per foot. Thanks for any help

Sounds like you haven't built too many boxes. I would suggest using the recommended specs to start with. Slot port area range is based on 12-16 square inches of port per cubic foot, while aero ports are based on 9-13 square inches per cubic foot.

How much wattage are you planning to run. There are guys on this forum who have built boxes up to 1 cube tuned to 28hz on 1500w, but they have no clipping and lots of clean power.

This is a working spec for that sub on rated power or a little above:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 35 Hz

Vb = 0.6 ft^3

External Height = 9.5 in

External Width = 19.5 in

External Depth = 14 in

Port Width = 1 3/8 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 19 1/2 x 9 1/2

Left & Right Sides = 11 3/4 x 8

Top & Bottom = 19 1/2 x 11 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 10 3/8 x 8

Extension = 14 1/2 x 8

Extension 2 = 6 1/4 x 8

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Sundown posted a power to box size thread on here somewhere. I really suggest sticking to recommended box specs though because the sa8 has a ton of magnet force and in a large box it would rip its self apart.

Thanks for all the suggestions if anyone comes across the sundown thread link it please I'm looking as well. I have not built many boxes and I have recently down loaded Torres. The box shown will not work as I am building this for a reg cab truck. I am not sure what I will run watt wise 600-1000 I think I may stay closer to the rms so I will hopefully never have any trouble out of it.

So I need to stay as close as possible to the .75 gross and net correct. And stay within those per sq foot numbers and I should come out sounding good. Is it Ok to tune 33hz or stay at 35

Either way you'll be fine. Just depends on personal preference

Just don't put the sub in a 1.2 cubes box if you are running above rated power, besides the box I showed you above there will be a couple of dozen threads at least dealing with the SAv2 maybe you will like the dimensions of one of them, use search to get to them.

Iv had no luck finding the power to box size if I run rms I should stay .75 what if I run 1000 watts to it what do I make the box size is there any rule to the size I build or is there a max size like never build 2.0 for a .75 spec sub or is it all according to application
