Little Project For An Upcoming Competition

Recommended Posts

so the first competition of the year is coming up towards the end of Feb. and i am trying to get everything ready for it. i compete in meca and they base your class partly on fusing amounts...thats why i have so much little shit to do....got all of my distro blocks and fuse blocks in the mail yesterday and will hopefully get all of my fuses tomorrow...

i did a dry fit with some things. i was using some crappy 8gauge wire i had laying around, but realized halfway thru mocking it up that im gonna need some better quality wire so i can get those insert nuts to really "bite" down on the wire....

this is the layout i am shooting for...

my fingers kinda hurt after stripping all of this damn wire, which is now useless...

little test fit and then realized how shitty this wire was...

so my to do list:

-get some better 8gauge wire

-move my amp over to make room for all of this stuff

-make a little panel for my amp and all of distro blocks

-wire everything up

-compete

-WIN!!

i likes me some audio stuff...

got a little more stuff done on this

got some way better 8gauge wire from coogle...the wire on the left was what i had, and the stuff i got from coogle is on the right...quite different

DSCF1106.jpg

wired them up and ran out, went back up the next day to get somemore...im a dumbass

DSCF1107.jpg

after that i worked on my port a little bit...i have swappable ports, this on is for just burps, about 57sq" tuned to like 46-47hz

DSCF1108.jpg

marking my holes...i cant just screw this together...its kinda like a double swappable port...u will see what i mean in the end...

DSCF1111.jpg

DSCF1112.jpg

temporarily screwed to drill holes

DSCF1113.jpg

drilling all these holes took me a good 30 minutes...i had to do it in like 5 or 6 steps so i didnt split the wood, which i did anyways when i put the insert nuts in...

DSCF1116.jpg

DSCF1118.jpg

slipt wood...not too worried about it since its just for competitions...

why so many distribution blocks? that'll kill your voltage sometimes............ but if that helps you get into a class then distribute it up bro.

then i tried to decide on how i wanted to mount all these fuses...i think im gonna build like a little shelf to sit over my amp during competitions...kinda like this...

then the next day i got up at like 7 to work on this a little more before my friend came over for an install (see my other thread)...

it was a balmy 15degrees out when i started....my hands were friggin numb for awhile..

frost on my car...

got all my insert nuts in..

and got the port cut out...

after sanding

the port is about 80% done...still gotta locate my holes so i can mount this on my box and carpet it...i like to keep things midly attractive which is sometimes rare if you have seen competition setups before...and i still gotta build my fuse shelf and carpet that also...

i likes me some audio stuff...
