Anywho, super small update today, didn't get shit done cause apparently I got a bad batch of beer from the gas station (craft beer 64oz growler) so I was up all night on the toilet, fml.

Yeah right, and in the same breath they wish death on everyone who prays to a different sky ghost than they do. :-)

But yeah, I'm not at all happy with how the Apple execs are patent trolls and greedy, proprietary fucks but hey, that's what they want to do so I don't have to buy their products. They wouldn't be able to do that shit if they didn't have the guns of the state to point at people. ;-)

Box looks good as hell though but, you need to put some TP on the outside to dampen the, um... residual waves.

Understand the religious thing too, I work with a woman like that, the other day she was saying that Harry Potter is the devil.... Really? Talk about blind and ignorant.... Never even seen the movies or read the books, but I guess she watched some church show that talked about how evil Harry Potter is and the messages these stories spread and yada ya....

I will consider the TP, maybe I will keep a spare roll next to the box for when I play the "brown note"

But actually, you shouldn't tell anyone you're keeping tp by the speaker box... I think Apple has a patent on that.

So got some work done, these speakers fought us tooth and nail getting them installed and working properly, but it was so worth it. My neighbor helped me install these, did it in his garage in a couple late nights after work. I forgot to take pictures of the install of the 6.5s, but those wooden templates I made had to undergo a makeover as the baskets on the new speakers were huge compared to the old 6.5s, plus they got moisture in them so I cleaned them up some, will have to go back in and paint them or make new but for now I just wanted the shit installed!

I did the passenger door pretty much entirely by myself, then the neighbor got bored and helped me with the driver side. Here he is cutting out the hole for the tweeter

Here was a big issue we ran into. The crossover for the driver-side tweeter had a shitty solder joint that apparently never connected the wire to the capacitor. Took forever to figure out what was wrong, but we got it. Also this tweeter wasn't glued down inside of it's encasing, so we had to pull the screen off, take the tweeter out, clean the old glue off and used JB Weld to reattach it. Good as new.

One critique though... if you can build some sort of spacer to get those tweets on axis, they will sound much better on less power. All you need is enough tilt to get the right tweeter pointing at the left listener and vice versa. That will improve stereo imaging and bring the sound stage up to (or much closer to) ear level. It'll also keep them from being too bright. They seem that way to me but it's really hard to tell from an audio recording.

But again, it's looking good man... keep up the good work. :-)

Thank you! I will eventually play around with placement and putting them on axis. I do know they sound damn good in real life, Hell I had a really bad day today cause I had to bury another friend and I'm having more drama with my gf, so I came home and blasted Hollow by Godsmack and the neighbor came out of his house and was like holy fuck dude, I was up in the attic and heard music playing and heard the words clear as day, looked outside and saw your car and knew it was you, that shit was unreal man!

And the recording sucks ass, my phone distorts everything!

So I did get my new box in finally, just put it in without fixing it in place for the time being, and it blew in less than a week, fml.

Also been dealing with walking into my gf's house to find her with her ex smoking pot together and doing other things....

And here's a pic of the crack in the cone from playing it hard when I didn't realize the box slid forward into the amp rack, which I believe is what ultimately did it in.

Needless to say I am extremely unhappy...
