KeaganH6 Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 I am getting a Quantum Audio 1500 watt mono amp 2ohm and two 12in d6 dual 2ohm Diamond subwoofers. Amp Model #: QB1500D Sub Model #: D612D2 How much power RMS will each sub be getting ? Am I going to be overpowering or under powering ? What should I look out for so that I do not damage my subs or amp ? I am worried that I got decent sub woofers but a crappy amp or an amp that is not powerful enough. Also on the quantum audio site it says the amp is 1 x 1500 Watts @ 1 Ohms Mono but any other site I look at says that the amp is 1 x 1500 w @ 2 ohms. Isn't that contradictory ? My box is a dual 12 red ported box, looks like this: I payed about 480 for all of this installed, tax, wires, everything...did I get ripped off ? I have a 2004 4 door honda civic and I have a Kenwood face unit and I have kicker door speakers..I do not know if that will help answer my question
jhmeg2 Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Straight off thier site... so each sub will be getting (about) 750/2=375 watts Specifications Input Voltage: 11.2V - 14.4V 1 x 750 Watts @ 2 Ohms Mono 1 x 1500 Watts @ 1 Ohms Mono X-Over Slope: 12dB Bass EQ: 12dB @ 45Hz Input Sensitivity: 2Mv - 5V Signal to Noise Ratio: >95dB Freq. Response: 15Hz - 22KHz ////Alpine, Eclipse, Load Boss, Pheonix Gold, MB Quart,Digital Desings, Memphis, Stinger, Periphial, MTX, Visualogic
CleanSierra Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Since you can only wire to .5 ohm or 2 ohms with your subs, looks like 750W RMS In the real world, you'll get less with voltage drop and impedance rise. Not sure what the subs are rated at for RMS. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
bighossf150 Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 It only has 4 20 amp fuses so it should do around 800w at 1 and roughly half that at 2ohm so you will definitely be under powering the subs, I think you will be disappointed with it seeing how you payed almost $500 for the set up Used to have a loud truck 2009 Corvette Z06, H/C/I, 150 shot, g force tune, 730rwhp/690rwtq 2013 F-150 limited, MPT Tune, leveled on 35"s
KeaganH6 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 So right now the subs are getting around 375...If the subs are 600RMS, does that mean I would need to get an amp that was 1200watts rms in order to get the best from my subs ?
99blazer Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 if your going to run ur amp at 2ohms you will need to find an amp that puts out 1200watts at 2 ohms 08 Ford F150
CleanSierra Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 if your going to run ur amp at 2ohms you will need to find an amp that puts out 1200watts at 2 ohms X2 Or you can get dual 4 ohm voice coil subs rather than dual 2s. If you get dual 4s you can get an amp(more affodably) that puts its power out at 1 ohm instead of 2 ohms. You'll pay more for 1200W at 2 ohms than you will an amp that does 1200 at 1 ohm. The only reason if suggest a different amp is that I don't think the way your current one is, that it would actually put out at1 ohm, or wouldn't last long if it did. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

KeaganH6 Posted January 11, 2013 Author Report Posted January 11, 2013 Well its too late for me to get new stuff because I already bought it from the store I just have to get it installed now. Buying it cost me all the cash I had so maybe in the future I could get a new amp or subs. The salesman made me think I was getting a really good deal, looks like I wasn't lol. I have never had subs before though so hopefully it will satisfy for now. But I will look into that Brutus one for the future, Thanks.
