Ford Escape Alternator.... HELP!!

Recommended Posts

So I'm working on upgrading my electrical in my 06 Ford Escape and... the damn alternator is at the very bottom of the vehicle... wtf! Is there any easy way to get to it???? I've looked online and pretty much every page says I have to take off the halfshaft to get to it which will be a major PITA if that's what I need to do...

Does anyone else here have another suggestion for what I can do that may have worked on one in the past? I'm still looking for small shops in my area that I might be able to help me out, but when i talked with one guy at goodyear he said it would be something around a $200+ job for the labor. But they can't do it if I provide the alternator, they have to use theirs.

Will do, thanks! yeah I know, it's stupid how they did it. If I had known I was going to be doing a "big" system when I bought my car at the time, I'd have looked for another vehicle with easier access haha.

dont worry, on the focus they barely give you enough room and its on top. such a pain in the rear that it makes me want to pull the engine everytime i mess with the alt.
