Foolproof 1/0 Gauge Soldering

I just crimp those connectors. Stick the wire in, pump the handle a couple times, heat shrink. Done :D

I used them solder pellets on a lot of my 1/0 connections. It really does work great.

Hammer crimp ≠ hydraulic crimper

I'd just prefer soldering over that

With using a crimper: you need to use the closed ended copper terminals. The "beefy" ones. The cheap open ended brass ones don't seem to cold-weld properly with the wire - those do best with soldering IMO

I do just this with some regular rosin-core cut up and dropped in a 1/0 lug. Works a treat.

Would silver solder work for this method?

Can't say, I'm not sure what that's for. I don't solder anything so I keep a spool of Radio-Shack solder for when I need to and it serves me well enough.
