Just put this in my buddy's 03 Explorer and I'll be honest. For a budget setup this fucker slumps! If anyone needs a box design for them let me know this one worked and I know there isnt a whole lot of ported plans out there for these things. I will get some pics on monday.

yea man i always hated on the type-r's till i bought some. honestly they are not that bad :blush:

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

i knew they could beat and can be had hella cheap but i didnt expect this at all. Especially with having no clue as to specs to build the box to. He's been out slumping around town showing off and i think i might end up with a few side money makers out of it. Or get his shit jacked.

my homie has two alpine type R 12s and i could hear him before he even hit my street, they get loud. they just don't get low.

2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)

3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.

(2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear)

Audiocontrol 3.1.

DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module

these do get low. they played late nite tip without even breaking a sweat. like i said Im pretty impressed with these and I have built plenty of boxes. and installed plenty of systems.

i was gonna say, type r's get pretty low... lower than most best buy subs

it all depends on what your comparing it to. If your comparing to an 18" Q, then no, they dont get low.

lets put it this way i have owned xxx15s and DD9515s. Two absolute monster woofers and these little twelves made me laugh. They were not as brutal or go as low as the big boys but they did their thing without any problems. Box is tuned to 35 hz and like i said it banged out late nite tip like it was nothing ..

they just don't get low.

X2!!! mine didnt get that low had it in a box tuned to 35Hz too, they get loud but idk if its jus me but they have a lil different sound to them, and I didnt care so much for it...

I dont know what you are talking about not getting low. my box is 4 cubes tuned to 33 and it gets pretty nasty. my side mirrors move about .5" up and down (not the mirror glass the acutal mirror). the lows are nice looks like my car is falling apart.

well i know it aint much of a comarison but my bros DC Level 4 got wayy lower than the type-r and sounded better doing it....
