RooTxBeeR Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 aero ports are based on 9-13 square inches per cubic foot. so the 9-13 square inches were they need to come. in the port area or in the port area per foot? tx guys for helping me They refer to Port area per foot. With slot port boxes, 12-15 Port area per foot. Less port area, the more bandwidth you will have, and the lower you will be able to play below tuning. The more port area, the less bandwidth you will have, but in your "peak" area range, you will be louder than if you had less port area. A bigger box allows lower notes to be more defined, while at the same time, lowering power handling. It is the complete opposite for smaller boxes, a smaller box allows for more power handling but hinders low end. It is all a game of balance when building boxes, and building it to fit what you want to outcome from it. Hope that helps you man. thats not completely true at all. Care to explain? I have a 2.5Cuft box, 28Hz tuning, and about 14sqin of port are per foot, for a 15". Cant barely play below 40hz, and your telling me that it doesn't? If your going to call someone out on something, please explain why. If your going to call someone out on something, please explain why. your car plays a big roll in what your box is going to play in the first place. just because you tune a box at 28hz doesnt mean its going to play 28hz. Different subwoofers will react differently in those "retard boxes" that are small and tuned below the subs fs and below your cabins f3. but for you do say that the "rule" is a definite is incorrect. That box you explained i'd never make for a customer. Because it would fail in every build. Our demo truck...2.75 per 15 12 per cube PLAYS EVERYTHING Steves tahoe has low volume with small port area, it plays everything i want to say both are tunes around mid 30s i know for a fact ours can play anythign 25-55 over 152db's.
vw passat Posted February 1, 2013 Author Report Posted February 1, 2013 wow do have link to see your truck AI James?
AI James Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 you can see the demo truck by checking out the read only Audio Innovations of Fresno section on this board.

Of course if you build a small box, then have low port area, that will greatly help bandwidth. If you read what I said, that conlcusion can be made. And my sub's Fs is actually lower than my port tuning fyi On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol.
