Alternator Squeak...i Need Quick Help Please!

Recommended Posts

well its not the belt or the fan rubing the case, what the problem is, is the bearing that holds the stator in place on the rear of the alt,its a needle bearing, you prob. have a few bearing bad in it thus causeing the noise at idle and above no matter what, i had the same problem with mine unitll i rebuilt it

you shouldnt have to do that, with tighting it so much youre makeing the other pullys get off axis and wearing out the bearings , the reason the sound is gone is because you have so much pressure on that one side that it cant squeak... id get it checked

i seen you said you tried to turn the pulley as best you could. you should be able to turn the pulley by hand when the belt is off. if not, you got a problem.
