Audiocontrol Epicenter hook up

Recommended Posts

I usually hook these up along with an eq easily but on a setup im doing for a person, they only want the epicenter along with a bass amp and a voice highs amp.

Question is since the headunit has two pairs of rca outputs one is front and the other is subwoofer, do i

1)Split the front rca outputs using y adapters one going to the 4 channel(split there for the 2 component sets as well) and the other one going to the epicenter then from there the bass amp or....

2)take the front output rca all the way to the 4 channel and split there for the pair of components, and take the sub rca outputs and send that to the epicenter and from there the bass amp or........

3) send the front rca outputs directly to the epicenter then from the epicenter split the rcas with the y and send a pair to each the bass amp and the 4 channel with the 4 channel also being split again for all channels?

Thanks.

Take it from the he. Stereos subs output and run it to the epicenter and then to the bass amp

That's why they don't deliver.

Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait.

You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start :D

I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.

The epicenter according to the manual needs to take in a full range signal, i know it could work without one but i rather give it a full range signal.

Also the headunit has two pairs of rca outputs one is front but the other is actually rear/subwoofer switchable.

I guess option 2 is eliminated because the epicenter is only getting the subwoofer output from the headunit and not a full range,

But what if i make that a rear outout instead of a subwoofer output because its "switchable rear/subwoofer" according to the manual of the headunit.

I know im sure im confusing myself but i just want to see what would be the logical way.

Hello teamace24 -

You are correct, The Epicenter is designed to take full range signal. Option 1 or 3 would work fine for you. I am guessing you are taking this approach to maintain front/rear fade. Alternatively, I believe your Cerwin amp can take 2 channels in? You could then use fronts from your HU to the Cerwin amp and rears (changed to rears from subs) to the Epicenter and on to your bass amp.

Always welcome to call us if you have any questions along the way.

If i use option 3 which sends the epicenter signal to the 4 channel, will the highs now be affected by the epicenter when i turn it up? Or will it only control the sub somehow.

The Epicenter will send full range to the subs - the sub amps will have a lowpass filter, I assume. The Epicenter is not affecting the highs; it is adding subharmonic content based on the full range content it is fed.
