Owen Hix
Hello, Kinda new to the fourm but I need some recomendations for a high output alt for my 2005 chevy colorado 3.5L. I've done some looking but want some "pro/am" input on better brands/more reliable/ect.. Any help would be great to point me in the right direction. System will be about 2000w for now but plan on jumping up to around 4000 sometime. WillPwn4Food
A 220a alt is probably all you need with 1 or 2 decent batteries in the back. 220a charging at 14.4v gives you 3168w. 8ight
DC Power Engineering makes some of the best high output alternators period. They do lots of work for our military and produce extremely reliable units with the best low idle output. When purchasing a high output alternator I suggest buying the largest unit you can afford. It gives you 220 amps to your vehicle. amps doesnt magically translate to watts.
