DubNDodge Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Did you leave all your stock wires in place? The big 3 should be adding onto your original wiring. Not replacing. Cox Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Make sure your original wires are in place and I cannot stress enough to make sure you have proper grounds. Kenwood Excelon x396AQ2200Fi Q 12XS D3400 XS XP30001/0 RADAFLEXStinger volt meter Mechman 240a alt
Carbon Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Make sure your original wires are in place and I cannot stress enough to make sure you have proper grounds. Use a wire brush bit to remove all rust / paint from chassis before connecting! Why do you emphasize to leave the stock wires? From my pictures my stock wires do not look like they do any good at all compared to the 1/0.

Not really emphasizing to leave the stock wires, just more as a precautionary prevention of stupid crap happening in certain cars. Especially the power wire. DubNDodge Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Just trying to troubleshoot why his lights are dimming more. The only reason I say add on is I know that in my car the stock Alt+ to Bat + branches off and goes somewhere else(I didn't bother to follow it) If I were to just disconnect that wire from the battery or the alt I can see that there would possibly be issues created. But yeah, if you are just replacing a ground wire, there shouldn't be an issue. OP, did you sand down all the locations of your grounds? Is your bat- to chasis ground and engine ground to chasis ground in the same location? How did you connect your ring terminals onto the wire? Edit: fixed grammer. I'm tired and my grammar is crap. I have 2 cables on my alt, One is stock and goes to the wiring harness the other is 1/0 to batt. Your point is valid
ric006 Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 sounds kinda like a crappy ground man
