Good subs can be burnt up by 600 dirty watts because of clipping with dirty songs or too much gain. I am pushin 2500-3000 watts easily to 1500 watts subs because it is clean power. DubNDodge Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 24, 2013 Yeah gains are set with dd.1 and crossovers set with cc.1. All is good deck doesn't clip at all with everything set to flat. Sub amp is tuned to -5dB. That makes me feel a bit better now about the coils. I ran my VVX 12's (600rms) on my 2500. Meaning they were each seeing double RMS. they had a crispy clean signal the whole time and always feed clean music.... DD1 set on that was -5db. After about 30 minutes they would get warm but not stinky at all. Once I fed them a (SLIGHT) clipped signal for 6 minutes just to see and I got a nice poof of smoke out of my box and a nasty smell. Clean signal is key. Sprayed extra amounts of water around the antenna and the brake light. No water would come through. Current favorite song to demo is In this Ho - decaf'd. Freaking love the bass that leads up to the drop. Makes people think that the system is decently loud, then that low hits. Insane. DubNDodge Posted April 2, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 2, 2013 Well tomorrow I hope to finish off everything. The main thing being the rear beauty panels. I still have not been able to locate that damn leak. I got pretty pissed and took a power washer and put the tip in it for washing cars, and sprayed all over and around the antenna and tail lights. Wouldn't leak. I have a bad feeling it might be the body work under neath. Because there was only water there once I drove the car and there was water on the roads. So I might just caulk all the joints on the inside of the car. Not sure yet. Will also be tackling my bit of amp vibration I have. Snowdrifter gave me something to think about when mounting the amps. I believe the head of the screw was to tight against the amp causing the amp to vibrate. So I will be trying to make the screws snug, but not tight like there where before. I'm not really even sure why I have vibration. My box doesn't actually vibrate itself. I put a little 1lb weight on the box and then a quarter and they didn't bounce or anything. I understand I have carpeting, but still. The last thing to do is clean up my wiring. Not much to clean up but there is a bit. I have also got used to the bass already.... Saw some hdc3 12's for sale. Drove 20 miles to my moms house just to look for the dang thing. Can't find it. So I had to resort to my ipod. I promise some super high quality pics in the near future Some final touches. I put the carpet covers back over the wheel wells. That was a pita to say the least. Here's how the lower section looks like. Overview The beauty panel is 100% cut out and fitting Wrapped in carpet. Waiting for them to dry. I think I found the damn leak. It was the under body. Not sure why it is seeping in. But I caulked the hell outta that corner. Here is how the beauty panel will be supported. There will be another one on the other side of the fuse holder.
