Big-A Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Call hifonics and speak to tech support. Those are not rms ratings and it is not cea. I had a customer bring me one to install, supposed to be 500 bridged rms. I noticed there was only 30 amps of fusing. I called tech and he stated 280 at 14.4 with very low efficiency. 2004 Dodge Ram Head unit- Alpine iDA-x305s Sound processor- Clarion eqs746 Mids/Highs amp- Alpine MRV-F345 Sub Amp- Alpine MRD-M1005 Dash Speakers- (3) Dayton Audio rs75 Front Door- Skar SPX65c Rear fill- Skar SPX tweters and Dayton ND140 midbass Sub- Fi Audio SSD 15 high QTS SHCA power/ground cables and Stinger interconnect XS power D6500 under the hood and D680 in the amp rack Big 3+ with SHCA http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161174-dodge-ram-quad-cab-fi-ssd15-skar-audio-alpine-shca/?p=2326251
naughtyca Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 that hifonics 2000.4 has a 120a fusing on it, 40x3, if you calculate it right, it should produce close to the power it advertise.
Big-A Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 At 14.4 and 120 amps would be 1700 at 100 percent eficiency. This amp maybe 70 per so I call around 1200 with high distortion. Call hifonics, get the bottom line 2004 Dodge Ram Head unit- Alpine iDA-x305s Sound processor- Clarion eqs746 Mids/Highs amp- Alpine MRV-F345 Sub Amp- Alpine MRD-M1005 Dash Speakers- (3) Dayton Audio rs75 Front Door- Skar SPX65c Rear fill- Skar SPX tweters and Dayton ND140 midbass Sub- Fi Audio SSD 15 high QTS SHCA power/ground cables and Stinger interconnect XS power D6500 under the hood and D680 in the amp rack Big 3+ with SHCA http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161174-dodge-ram-quad-cab-fi-ssd15-skar-audio-alpine-shca/?p=2326251
naughtyca Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 The rating is 250w per channel at 4 ohm so if you say the amp will do 1200 at 14.4 with high distortion dont you think close to 1000 you will get with minimal distortion, hence rated at 250w per channel at 4 ohm is close to rated
Big-A Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Have you ever laid hands on one? Installed one? Tested one? Stop reading the Internet and call hifonics. By the way current draw will be much less at 4 ohm than 2 ohm. I bet at 4 ohm it does no more than 600 rms. I'm done , call tech 2004 Dodge Ram Head unit- Alpine iDA-x305s Sound processor- Clarion eqs746 Mids/Highs amp- Alpine MRV-F345 Sub Amp- Alpine MRD-M1005 Dash Speakers- (3) Dayton Audio rs75 Front Door- Skar SPX65c Rear fill- Skar SPX tweters and Dayton ND140 midbass Sub- Fi Audio SSD 15 high QTS SHCA power/ground cables and Stinger interconnect XS power D6500 under the hood and D680 in the amp rack Big 3+ with SHCA http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161174-dodge-ram-quad-cab-fi-ssd15-skar-audio-alpine-shca/?p=2326251
