scooter99 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I understand what you're saying, but the channel is only going to see what signal is sent to it. SO if you have a left and right on channels 1 & 2, you're going to send one side to it, left or right, but not both. If you send both then yes you're sending a mono signal to it. If you send one side only, to each set of channels, you're essentially then sending a 2 channel signal to it. Think of it as 2 2 channel amps instead of a 4 channel amp. If you had 2 2 channel amps for your mid's, you wanted one for one side, and one for the other, you'd split the signal. Right signal to one amp, left signal to the other amp. You use splitters to connect to both inputs, You now have a left amp and a right amp. Even though those two amps see mono signals they're only going to see the signal you're sending to it, in this case left or right, not left and right. CleanSierra Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I wouldn't wire the 8 ohm mids that Crescendo improperly sent. What I would do is send them back NOW, and get my money back and go with a different company. It's a hell if a mistake for a ccompany to send you something that you DIDN'T order with the promise of making it right when they get the proper product in stock. Not a way to run a business in my opinion, I would think Scott will agree. So I wouldn't bother wiring these 8 ohm mids, since they are not ideal for your build. If you do run them, just run 2 per channel for a 4 ohm load and underpower them. Pro audio doesn't take much wattage to get loud. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 And Scott, most 4 channel amps have front as channels 1 and 2 and rear channels as 3 and 4. So you would have front and rear separation, for fading capabilities, but left and right, nope. You may be able to do something goofy though like channels 1 and 3 but not sure it would "bridge" that way. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

If he's running a single rca run, and split into two, why wouldn't he see left and right if the signal was split correctly? The only way it would matter is if he was in fact tuning from the amps right? Cause other wise you'd tune from the processor or crossover or whatever else wouldn't you? CleanSierra Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 music is different front and rear, the way it's recorded. It was intended to be listened to in Stereo, not mono Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 The amp can't send the a stereo signal to a speaker that is wired in mono. maybe I'm all wrong in this. Wish someone else with more knowledge would comment on this, because I'm confused. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
scooter99 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I hear what you're saying but if you had the front rcas out of the head unit, left to one set of channels an right to the other set of channels, how is that different? If you're not feeding the amp a front and rear signal, it doesn't know front and rear. It only knows left and right if that's the signal you're giving it. So my question still remains the same, why would it see a mono signal if you're giving it left and right divided, left to first two channels, right to the second two channels? Swordlordboy1234 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Mono is for subwoofers or 1970's house systems . Grandpa was an audiophile back in the day, him and his neighbor apparently bought the same expensive ass stereo, played the same track at the same time (sync over the phone) and then would run outside to the middle of the street between them so they could hear it in step not mono. Could be one of his crazy stories though My old YouTube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/SwordLords1234?feature=mhee My old build log : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161872-96-accord-b2-sundown-sky-high-dc-power-re-re-build-for-heatwave/page-37 My New Build - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/207041-2016-mazda-6-sql-build/ 2016 Mazda 6 Touring JL Fix 86 - OEM signal correction B2 prototype DSP 6to8 B2 Ref63 - 3 way active set 2 B2 Class H quattro's 1 B2 Zero.5R @.5 2 B2 HNv3 12 d2 B2 SLIP40 - Lithium in the trunk Northstar Group 35 under the hood 100ft 2/0 welding cable 30ft 4ga welding cable 20ft 8ga welding cable All stinger OFC speaker wire Soundrive custom RCA's Tons of attention to detail....
