ncc74656 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 kool, well ill offer to sell him the 1500 as an upgrade then. thanks, now all i need to do is finish working out the box for the new sub once i find a 2500W. on that note, is a ZX2500.1 a good amp choice or is there perhaps a better amp? maybe one that can run lower than 2 Ohm? i think kickers dont like to run much below 2OHM, my 1500.1 is at 1.7 but if i put it down to .4 it cuts out. nothing, gutted

AQ 2200, Crescendo 2000, Skar 2500, DC 2k, etc. Edit: How the hell are you wiring to .4ohms AND 1.7ohms, with 1 sub? *Rebuid in progress*
Noel989 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Don't some jl sub are like 1.5 or something I saw some fi on eBay that were 5 ohms theirs a thread here about them Aren't bl 1.4 ohms Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/

But the D1's rest at .7 and the D2's rest at 1.4ohms IIRC. But I don't see how 1 sub could be wired to .4ohms and then be wired to 1.7ohms. Maybe I'm missing something? *Rebuid in progress*
Noel989 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Let's hope it's a typo Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
ncc74656 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 yes its a fi BL .7/coil i was referring to. i have to have it wired at an increased ohm load on teh kicker. when i wired it low it would cut out when the loud bass hit so. i plan to build my new box this weekend with what limited info i gathered across the net. either its going ot sound AMAZING or fall flat as i screw up my first build... nothing, gutted
CJ18 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 If it is a dual .7 coil, his wiring options are only .35 or 1.4. Most likely there is resistance in the probes causing a slightly higher reading on that 1.7.

Noel989 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 If he rounds of the .35 It does equal .4 But from 1.4 to 1.7 I'm lostlol Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
ncc74656 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 ill have to ohm it out again, its been nearly 8 months since i last checked it so who knows what its at or what i remember wrong... on the off chance anyone reading this knows, is it true that a slot port is best to face the same direction that the sub fires? so on a 28" tall box face with a 16.75" ID sub cut out and a 3.8" tall port that would work out fine for the front of the box? i intend to take a sealed sub out to the truck tomorrow and find what frequency is loudest in the truck and then tune my box to that. that should be the frequency of the cab so it makes since to tune to that right? nothing, gutted
