Need some info on the stock speakers in my truck

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram regular cab with the 4 speaker sound system. I am hunting some replacements and have found that the front doors contain 6x9s and the rear speakers are 5 1/4"

Can anyone verify this information? I also was curious about front speaker mounting depth since I need some 6x9s that can handle 150w RMS.

The front Speaker mount should be plenty deep. I have ran RF T1692 before and the get realy loud with a RMS of 100 watts, 200 watts Peak. But depending on what kind of system you want they still make component 6x9s. Most will tell you to put a Good 6.5 in the doors but you do what makes ya happy. I dont think theres anything wrong with a good 6x9 up front, 5 1/4 in the rear. if your just upgrading from stock for a louder & clean sound.

I personally wouldn't do 6x9's but my goals might be differ from yours. Check out crutch field and see what fits in your truck... Then search places like Sonicelectronix and see what's in your budget with good reviews. Enjoy

I've used several fitment guides, I don't trust them because I get different numbers and have received lots of equipment that was supposed to fit and never did with no support after the fact. I don't have any reservations about speakers that aren't round and I need as much bass as I can get without subs.

Well as far as that goes... I'm not sure. I know crutch field never steered me wrong with any vehicles I've worked on. If you want lots of bass with no subs then check out 6x9's in your front doors... See if their is a way to cut part of the rear door and put some 6.5 coax's in their... Give them each about 100+ rms... Lots of proper deadening and let it rip.

These will be running off my Zapco 1000.4 so 150wpc at 4 ohms. I'm not too worried about the rears since I always have them way down to keep the stage up front just replacing them "while I'm in there". I think I will be going berserk on the deadening since it's a 2dr...

Well rear fill is so subjective it's almost like talking about money politics and religion on a first date with a chick. Just saying.

I prefer rear fill to be very "there" in my sound stage. I make it so I close my eyes and I can hear them clearly but they sound more on the side of me not in back of me. And my focus is still on the front stage. But if I turn my head I can still hear everything. But I'm not an sq guy. Mine happens to be everything set with a DD1.. Headunit set with -0 db and my t600-4 set with -5db... And I got the balance I wanted with my fader set on 2 clicks out of 15 towards the front stage.

If that's all it takes to make it sound like the sound originates in the front in your car then it is I suppose. I'll get everything tuned when it's in, for now I just need to know if some super deep speakers will fit. I have hear 2.51" is the max top-mount depth in my truck and that is scaring me away from deeper choices. Nothing like the thud of a magnet on a window track.

True that. I wish I could grab that 3.5k from you. Crazy price. Where were you 6 months ago lol. Instead I'm looking for anothe skar 2500 now and the proper batteries to support 5k.

Back on topic. That is pretty shallow. My Polk mm's have a neodymium magnet and get super retarded loud. Not a lot of mid bass, and I don't think they can take your 150 at 4 ohms since they sound like they are at their peak with my 125+ rms each at their 2.7 ohms. But the fact that the neo magnets take up that much less space might be something to look into. .....

They are really really really effing small.
