iCool247 Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 For some reason my voltage drops when my power and ground wires are connected to the amp. I used a multimeter to check my battery terminals under the hood and it read 12.6v-12.5v. I've tested the power and ground wires when they're not connected to the amp and it also reads 12.6v-12.5v. When I test the amp's pos and neg terminals when connected to the wires I get 7-4v. The amp will turn on, along with a bright green light that soon gets dim then goes off. I used different amps and I still get the same readings. I went to Mobile One and the install tech said I had bad grounds through out my truck. After messing with the grounds under the hood, they all read 12v+ and I still have the same problem. So whats the problem? Make sure nothing else is connected to the amp when you try this. What is the voltage at the battery when you connect the amp power wires and attempt to turn it on and the amp shows ~7V? What gauge are these power wires? Double all connections between the battery and the amp for corrosion or bad connections. Also if you have a second batt in the back check to make sure it's grounded properly cause I had a similar problem because mine wasn't grounded good and not getting charged so My amps would get really dim and almost cut off.
