I do not have a DD-1 yet but i plan on ordering one so for now its setting gains my the ear-o-meter and the DMM. Once i get the gain level set should i even bother with the bass boost knob or leave it all the way down? I know to have it down while setting gains but is it something that needs to be adjusted after the gains are set to provide a little more oomph? This is a mono amp for 2 12's by the way.

yeah leave boost off it will send distortion to the speaker

Not quite... Bass boost is like a secondary gain centered around a specific frequency. Once your gain is set, there is no reason to play with the bass boost since turning it up will amplify the signal beyond what you just set the gain to. And that causes clipping. You can use it, but you just need to account for and take it into consideration.

But for 95% of cases, you are better off just leaving it all the way down

I use my bass boost, it's called level on my amp as snow drifter said to boost a certain frequency where my q slope is not linear and I'd like to flatten that area out.

If you don't kno what I'm talking about leave it off
