Friend offered me some Polk Audio MM6501's

My buddy offered me some Polk Audio MM6501's for $160, but I'm not sure if that's a decent deal for those or not. They look really nice and they are components, which is a definite upgrade from my coaxials in the front, but I've never even heard them before. I currently have some Infinity References all the way around. I won't have the opportunity to listen to them before I purchase.

My question: Would the MM6501's be a good (sound quality) upgrade from the Infinity Reference 6032cf for the price he is asking?

I would take the polk's over infinity any day, they will sound very good and have a good amount of bass output from them providing your doors are deadened well, the only thing bad about them would be the surrounds will split if you play them below 50hz from over excursion.

I run polk in my doors, a polk 8" mm subwoofer, a set of polk mm 6.5 components and a couple tweeters in each door, pushed off a polk 500.4 amp. They are solid and clean. I've ran them 2 years now (longest I've ever ran a set without replacing) The MM series is much better than their DB series IMO. And whats really weird is I replaced Infinity's with the polks lol. To me the Polk sound fuller with more mid bass.

actual set up in each door is

1- 8" MM840dvc

1- 6.5" MM651

1- Infinity Reference tweeter

1- Eminence Super Tweeter

but 160 is a little much, offer him 125 lol

I didn't even see those... they're certainly cheaper, but they are half the power. Do you think they would sound better than the Polks?

Those polks will walk all over the focals in every aspect, and was said in another post would be to see how low you can get them for.

My old store sold polk and focal and the polks are better suited for louder vehicles, and I don't remember what i have them running at right now. I had chemo yesterday so going to be a couple days before I can go check but as soon as I feel better I'll let ya know

I wouldn't say those Focals would outperform those exact Polks, but I would rather spend the money on a warrantied new set of Focals than $160 for a used set of Polks...
