Mobileaudio25 Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 For some reason my dd-1 distortion light will stay lit when cd is giving out a bad signal, but when checking my subwoofer amps it will not stay lit, it will blink once each time you pass a certain spot on the gain dial... Any ideas? Everythings flat, low pass up and on track 7
SnowDrifter Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 If you turn the gain up more does it stay lit? Also: don't use track 7. Use track 3 or 5 ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Mobileaudio25 Posted March 23, 2013 Author Report Posted March 23, 2013 No it just blinks. I've had the gain maxed out and it was just receiving signal. Did this on both of my hifonics and my buddies crescendo 5500.... But stay lit on head unit and highs amp :/ I'll start using track 5 btw...
SnowDrifter Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Your head unit might have a low pre-out voltage. I've seen it happen a couple times Try playing track 1 and see if you can get it to light up solid If you have a multi meter: measure the RCA voltage too. Positive probe to the pin in the center, negative probe to the outer ring. Meter set to AC volts ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Mobileaudio25 Posted March 23, 2013 Author Report Posted March 23, 2013 Just re did everything and somehow it lit solid. Not sure what the issue was yesterday, especially on 2 different systems... Never had that problem before... But I have a question, why use track 3 or 5 instead of 7? Is 7 for tones and 3/5 for music?
SnowDrifter Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 For most people, track 7 results in the gain being set too high, resulting in clipping. In all honesty: you should only use that to set your sub amp is you never listen to rap or other bassy music. Track 5 is better, but will still result in clipping when listening to bass boosted songs. BUT, if you know your system and know not to go full blast on loud songs, you shouldn't have an issue. Track 3 is a safe track and unless you are listening to something stupidly bass boosted, you should be fine. I've never found much of a use for track 1 on sub amps. But I always set my mids/high amps with it ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Mobileaudio25 Posted March 23, 2013 Author Report Posted March 23, 2013 I'm going to redo it and gain match my amps again using track 5.... Aren't almost all songs bass boosted though?
SnowDrifter Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Bass boosted means that someone edited the mp3 file and made the bass louder than it was originally Ex: Decaf, DJSNT ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
