Chris Hammer
Going to dip my bumpers/grille tomorrow. Anyone have any advice for dipping a large area like that? Biggest I've done is 12"x12" area. Im stuck with the spray cans..I have spray painted large items with a rattle can before with generally good results. Same principles? HatersGonnaHate
Yessir, same principles. Wash surface with a wax/residue free soap and water mix. Let dry. Get all the water out of the nooks and crannies with a lint free towel or microfiber. Then just do your passes of light coats of dip until you're content that you've got the proper coverage and amounts of coats that you need. Chris Hammer
Thanks bud. Exactly what I'm doing. Just needed some reassurance. I guess the best part is I can peel it off if I change my mind. MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. HatersGonnaHate
No problem man! Biggest thing to look out for is those hidden water drops, as soon as the dip hits them, the water starts running like crazy. But you're right though, if you domess up, just grab a corner, peel it off, start again. REVOofRustler
Considering you're in SoCal this probably won't be an issue, but make sure the cans aren't cold when you're spraying. I just did the rims on my truck with the plasti dip spray and they were spraying really inconsistently and it was basically just putting globs of plasti dip on my rims. I filled a bucket with hot water and stuck the cans in there to warm them up a bit and then they started spraying really nicely. It was in the low 40's outside when I was doing that though. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz

Chris Hammer
It looks good I'm done now. Ill throw up a pic. Im thinking about pulling some of it off on the middle chrome piece I covered. To break up the black..Im not sure yet though. I had that problem with cold cans when I tried doing some small plastic pieces (few months ago in below freezing lol) MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. Chris Hammer
And I just sprayed the entire grille..then peeled it up off the gmc logo...Left a clean line too. I was impressed. Edit: I keep forgetting to pull the Sundown logo off and clean my window lol..just remembered looking at these pics...I guess I can still rep it a little if I have a sundown sub at home...but right now there is only head unit/door speakers/amp in my truck..no back seats either LOL.
