I can't comment specifically on the 5 series... but my car (1 series) and the 3 series... there's a guy on the BMW forums that makes a sweet Plug and Play harness. All you do in unplug the factory harness and plug his in. Out comes RCA's. And then the other side of the harness plugs into the factory speaker wiring plug. Zero cutting,

From what I understand... the signal from our HU is a very nice, unfiltered 5v.

Looked into that harness. What I found was pretty basic, but nicely done. If your car is compatible with that harness you could have one made without the included LOC, and rather have the speaker wires accessable for you to use a bigger multiple channel LOC, like an AudioControl LC6i or similar if you don't want to go full out on a prosessor. Then you'll have

full Front L/R, Rear L/R and maybe a seperate channel for subwoofer, keeping all adjustments in the HU functional. And you don't have to mess with the original wiring, just the one you buy.

There might be other options as well, but as I said I'm not really up to date on theese things.

Also, are you gonna run new speaker wires to the doors? Seems like you'll be running some power.

A LOC is the same thing I called a high-low adapter, and what's used in that harness, and they come in many configurations and qualities.

Sorry I took so long with a reply.. but I have looked into the audiocontrol's.. but i think i will go with either the RF 360.3, jl cleansweep or the kicker front row if you know anything about these products.. only because i do not know much about audiocontol.. now i just have to narrow down to which one I want lol.. i will not be running new wires to the doors.. only because i am trying to stay away from touching the stock system as much as i can.. however i will add speakers to the bottom of the doors in pods, since the stock ones are in the middle.
