Welp, We've got an issue.

Well, my dad got me 2 15's and a ported enclosure for them for my late birthday present. Problem is, It's in my back seat, because they won't fit in my trunk.

They sound fine in the back seat, imo. My problem is, the fact that they are visible. I don't trust people around here, these people would steal some kicker 8's if they were easy enough to smash a window and grab em.

I was wondering if I could make a sort of false floor type thing that covers the subs, so they aren't visible to anybody outside of the car (or inside for that matter.)

The issue with that is, how would it affect the sound quality?

Yeah, this may seem like a noobish question, but I hope I can get some help/ideas from you guys.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - Is in a 2001 mustang, will post pictures tomorrow sometime.

You could make the cover as a frame and then cover it in speaker grill cloth, that shouldnt change much of how it sounds at all

That's what I was thinking. Wasn't sure if the port would make it would weird with it covered.

Pics would help us to help you.

I'll post some in the morning, too dark out right now.

Have you thought about trying to build a custom box to fit your trunk?

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

EDIT: LOL ninja'd

Also, I agree with the statement above, try to get a custom box done that will fit in the trunk, what kind of car is it that has a trunk so small it wont fit 2 15"s?

I've thought about it, yeah. But it would be hella hard for me, cause of the trunk space I've got. Also, to be able to get the space I would need in the box, I'd have to build the box in the trunk, and I've got absolutely no wood working skills. My dad will help with the "cover" thing if needed, but he already told me he won't help with a box.

Are your back windows tinted?

Nope, even if they were, tinted windows won't hide much at all in a coupe, where you can look in the doors or through the windshield and see the back seat clear as day.

It's a 2001 mustang, can't build a box for them (w/ the right amount of space and what not) and then put it in, and I can't build one in the trunk.

2001 Mustang? A decent 12 is all you need. Maybe a pair sealed. 15's are just too big for the car, unless you wall it.

Well, I've already got them, don't feel like selling them to get a 12(or 12's) just yet, so, do you think that my idea would work, without affecting the sound (too badly anyways)?
