I bought a fan from radio shack, Its for computers and it has a high pitch noise its driving me crazy.. My vm1 reads 14.3 to 13.7 and the fan is 12 volts..Would this cause it to over rev ? Wicks Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Any 12VDC fan will work. A couple more volts may make it run a little faster but nothing to worry about. A quality fan should be rated for speed, air flow (CFM) and noise. Look for one with low noise and high flow (CFM). They cost a little more but have a high cfm (110), variable speed, and are relatively quiet.
