P4killer_
I bought an alt for my elantra and it has an ex reg. Now i could mount it somewhere in the cabin, but if at all possible id like to keep it under the hood for simplicities sake. Option a red box: Theres a nice spot on the firewall that would be pretty easy to place it.. i was thinking some self tappers and your done, but ive never screwed into the firewall except for running power wire.. is this a viable option? option 2 green box: guy i bought it off of had it mounted here. on top of the shock bracket thing.. he said he welded a plate in there however i dont know how to weld nor do i have a welder.. I was thinking that i could get a plate and secure it using the larger bolt on the left, there is enough thread i could prolly fit another nut on top and maybe jb weld or screw into that flat part of the bracket a few inches to the right in order to hold the mounting plate secure?? option 3: On the side of the engine theres a plastic housing that mehhhh i could secure to, but i think thats actually part of the engine, this hyundai has alot of plastic under the hood and im not sure if thats just a cover.. any ideas for mounting would be appreciated. ill be putting this in during my vacation in a few weeks Thanks Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s

Ben Fultz
option 2 should be avoided because it will flex as your engine flexes, that's a motor mount. option 3 IS NOT a option, that's a timing chain cover, right under that cover are your cam gears. So I'd say option 1 is probably your best option, just make sure what's on other side before drilling/screwing.
Kidder
I believe option 3 is a timing belt cover. wouldn't go there. EDIT: ninja

P4killer_
Yea I was thinking of getting some smaller self tappers that don't go all the way through... It's pretty high on the firewall and I don't wanna screw into the passenger air bag or something. I'm looking into taking apart the dash or the glove box out.. a see what's there.. AMI CUSTOMS
up high on the firewall that is the rain trap for the wipers, only thing that will be there is wiper motor and if over far enought you should be clearing them. And you won't be able to see anything from inside the car, that is a waste of time lol.
