Hey! just wanted to add my input, I've owned that sub, and I'd have to say its not worth it. I built a box to exact specs, ran 1400 watts of clean power (rated at 1.5k) and it was only a couple weeks before it started cookin, moral of that story, these are way overated on power, loud.. but dont hold up in the long run..

Thanks for your input man, I need a sub that can last long, I had my 2 audiobahns for about 3 months and I already blew them.

I'd be willing to bet that you blew them because of clipping.

Honestly just get the SAs. It will give you some wiggle room for a bigger amp in the future too

I managed to run 1300 clamped to mine, but that was in a BIG box pushing xmech and it would get hot after about a minute lol

Im pretty sure it was just the build of the sub (I tuned it with an oscilloscope) I was having voltage drop issues though.. Which can cause clipping?.. but besides from that it should have been relatively clean power, but as a matter of fact just got two SA-15s, so you should check out the build log which will be going up within the month

2x Sundown SA-15s 8 cubes tuned to 30hz sealed in trunk Soundstream Rub 1.1600 Soundstream Rub 5.800 4x Kinetik hc600

Thanks for the answers guys, I like that C2 audio sub, I can wait, I bought a JBL GTO1214 for mad cheap so at least i got some bass in my car, but first day, and I got some smoke going out of the vent, I heard brand new subs can smoke sometimes, true or not ?

No sub should smoke.

How did you set your gains?

I think I pushed it too much, my amp was giving about 700W RMS the sub is rated a 350W RMS/1400W peak, but my level is at halfway, I was bumping all day with it, but with normal songs, I just tried a hard song with alot of lows and it started smoking.

But what method did you use to set your gain? What I'm asking is: How did you determine that setting your gain at half was the correct setting for you?

And what are your box specs?
