kenwood kdc-x993 whine.

Recommended Posts

my buddy has a kdc-x993 headunit i may get off of him as i want bluetooth and my tv doesnt have it. but he said when the rcas are hooked up there is a loud whine coming from the speakers. i heard that in pioneers there is the pico fuse that blows and causes this. does the kenwood have the same thing? and if any one has had this trouble before how was it fixed? or should i just look for a new headunit?

Test for continuity between the HU chassis and the RCA outside conductors.

My Kenwood had blown pico fuses so its possible.

You can fix it by sending it in for repair or manually grounding out the RCAs.

Mine was under warranty so it didn't cost me.

Not sure what Kenwood charges for repairs.

when he had his old headunit in there was no whine, and when he put his new one in there is no whine. just when this one was in.

got it hooked up tonight. grounding the rcas worked. i checked for continuity before grounding and there was nothing after grounding there was. so far no humming, buzzing or any thing. now to get used to a single din headunit.

I had the X693 which is the non bluetooth version. Loved it very much but from taking the faceplate off every time I got out of the car, the gold connections between the face and the deck stopped working and it wouldn't turn on anymore. It's a pain in the ass to see it in the sun, but during the night it's so damn beautiful. Have fun and enjoy.
