monoxide Posted April 6, 2013 Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 my buddy has a kdc-x993 headunit i may get off of him as i want bluetooth and my tv doesnt have it. but he said when the rcas are hooked up there is a loud whine coming from the speakers. i heard that in pioneers there is the pico fuse that blows and causes this. does the kenwood have the same thing? and if any one has had this trouble before how was it fixed? or should i just look for a new headunit? Wicks Posted April 6, 2013 Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 Test for continuity between the HU chassis and the RCA outside conductors. My Kenwood had blown pico fuses so its possible. You can fix it by sending it in for repair or manually grounding out the RCAs. monoxide Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 got it hooked up tonight. grounding the rcas worked. i checked for continuity before grounding and there was nothing after grounding there was. so far no humming, buzzing or any thing. now to get used to a single din headunit. Loved it very much but from taking the faceplate off every time I got out of the car, the gold connections between the face and the deck stopped working and it wouldn't turn on anymore. It's a pain in the ass to see it in the sun, but during the night it's so damn beautiful. Have fun and enjoy.
