Oh Look! Another Box Question!

OK, so hopefully My mom will take me to HomeDepot today seeing as how she got her taxes back.

I was going to pick up a sheet of 3/4" MDF, a box of screws (What kind do you guys use?), and a tube of Liquid Nails.

Should I build the box amatt85 designed for me.

Or build a Transmission Line I designed?

Opinions?

It is really your call.

Are you confident that you can build a decent T-Line?

If so, will it sound good?

If you answered yes then go for it haha.

If not, build the box AMatt85 gave you plans for and try a T-Line later on.

Or you can try the T-Line and if your not happy, start over, if you have the time that is.

So go for the T-Line but don't glue it until I hear how it sounds?

If I don't like it, Take it apart and try to piece together the ported box then?

build whatever u want....but scrap the liquid nails and get some wood glue (titebond)...it will be a lot stronger that way. and i usually just usle like 1 5/8" drywall screws...

give the t-line a shot...i think it would be fun to build one..

Well yah go for the T-Line and if you don't like it, build a new one.

I built a box and rolled with it for a week, didn't like it an built a new one.

It is all about build and rebuild until your happy.

since it will be your first box i say do the regular ported one.

then try a t-line.

ALSO dont screw anything into the MDF unless you predrill the holes.

your wood will split and crack if you dont.

i use brad nails now and well, they are working just fine, brad nails with titebond 2 or 3 and silicone on the inside to make sure that bish is sealed.

i hear brad staples work best though.

I have to agree with dwright build a regular box first then build a tline and titebond 3 wood glue

titebond 3 ftw, 1 3/4 screws for a lil extra bite, a pilot hole bit (slightly smaller than screw diameter for a tight fight, and maybe counter sink the holes and flush it all up a lil) oh and prolly gonna take more than an hour and a half too.
