question about gain setting and hu volt output

So say you have a hu that has a 2 volt output and you set ur gains a little past half at 2 volts. Then you guy a crossover or eq or something that boost the output to like 7 volts and you have to turn your gain down to where 7 volts is. Is the bass going to be as loud down at 7 volts compared to the gain up at 2 volts before? If you dont understand my question ill try and explain it better

it may sound louder cause it is cleaner due to the higher voltage but it shouldn't make a difference unless the amp can't handle 7 volts

Not louder, if anything less noise in the system. If everything is working and setup correctly, there will only be a minimal difference in how it sounds, if you can even notice it at all.

So if you go from a car no clipping at 2v to a car no clipping at 7v youd barely hear a difference? Seems like since the gain is significantly lower itd be quiet lol
