This has been bugging me for a LONG time now. It may be a newbie question, but hey we all gotta learn some how. I have been lead to the general conclusion that subwoofers are generally louder in hatches then in other vehicles...why is this? thanks

They're louder because of the discombobilator sensor being located closer to the flux capacitor which in turn makes the spl numbers go up by 43% which makes the world turn round.

Honestly I have no clue

i couldn't tell you why they are louder...i just enjoy the side effects. B)

on a side note, my car didn't actually meter as well as alot of people thought it would. it was just damn loud to the ear. i could only muster a 146. kinda sucked.

Hatchbacks are louder due to the air flow being less restricted and they are giant horn that loads most of the sound in a uniform direction.

Well I have an extended cab truck with all my shit right behind me in the back seat....or well the back seat used to be. But by what people tell me is that my smaller cabin space will still not be as loud as in a hatch with slightly more cabin space. So I mean its not really compared to in a trunk but more by the comparison of...will an extended cab truck or a hatch back produce more spl if they both have the exact set ups??
