It says 1/0 is required for installing, but can i still use 4 gauge since its smaller then 1/0 wire?

Save up for some 1/0 and do it right the first time. You wouldn't want to buy 4 to replace with 1/0 gauge later. (money wasted that you could have allocated elsewhere)
