slickstang92 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 i've been having problems with my high's set up so i was checking the ohm's and everything is at 2 ohm like it should be for my 2ohm stable amp but when the amp turns on the ohm's drop to lower than 2 can anyone tell me why this is happening i didn't have alot of time to post this but in you need more info let me know thanks

Wicks Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 You can't check resistance with meter (DMM) on a powered system. To measure resistance, the meter applies a small voltage itself and measures the induced current to calculate the resistance. If you do that on a powered system, it will mess with the reading. Besides a speaker is a reactive load. It's impedance changes with frequency so I would expect it to change (drastically) with music.
