RobertR Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Running a dd m1c. Sat. it satrted making the same noise as an amp that does not have a soft start when you power it up. ( loud thump ) It will do it in the middle of any song at any volume. Sometimes it thumps once or twice and then stops. Other times it will do it 15 to 20 times. This doesnt happen very often. It almost sounds like a loose connection. I can now also hear static sometimes when I am adjusting my remote gain knob from minimum to about 1/4 of the way up. I checked all my connections and they are solid. Rca's, power, ground, remote wire, gain knob, speaker wire, all are solid. I was told that its probably the input on the amp board is starting to go bad. I would really like a few different opinions on this. Amp is no longer under warranty. RobertR Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 Get it repaired, unless its really toasted it will surely cost less than buying a new amp. http://www.db-r.com/ Should I send it here ^^ or to DD? I hear DD has a pretty fast turn around on their amp repairs and a reasonable price also. I have another amp I can run for now. I wont need the m1c till around june 5th. RobertR Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 Any chance this might be gain knob related? I also went through ad checked everything again. The speaker terminals were loose on the amp. tightened them up. going to run it tomorrow with out the gain knob to see if it makes any difference. I know its a long shot but I really dont want to go back to the RE Audio amp unless I have to. Plus I just bought another amp, 2 recone kits for my sa-12's, 6.5 CDT coaxial's, a red top optima, and a new custom aero port box,and Im trying to buy another amp for my front stage plus wiring for it. My wife is starting to get a little irritated with my spending. BMW 325i Kenwood KVT-647DVD re xxx components re 6.5 FR's 2 RE XXX 12's 2 US amps MD3D's 2 batcap 4k's
