If the other frequencies from the subs are not coming through the deck or seats, the port tuning frequency will be much louder than the other frequencies. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
Airborne Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I'm thinking that it wouldn't sound good at all. Keep the port in the same part of the car as the subs unless you are planning a bandpass...

Tarball Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I think you have some conflicting goals. you want to port through the rear deck but you dont want to 'see' the port. you want want to port through the deck but the drivers will fire into the trunk unless your subs are firing into the cab you dont want to port to the cab. this would defeat the purpose of ported box design, the port air and driver movement complient each other when fired into the same listening space. you have some more reasonable options but if you seriously want to port the deck you will have to make sacrifices. turn the whole trunk into a 4th/6th order bandpass and port through the deck ported box in the trunk that doesnt breath into the cabin CURRENT SYSTEM: Alternator: Stock alt on mids/highs Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v Batteries: (2) XS D1400s Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks Headunit: 80-PRS Sub Amp: DC 5.0k Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal. 98GCLimited Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Agree you should do a 4th order probably be best for you and port through the rear deck and seal off the rest of the rear deck and any other holes behind the seats with some deadener to fully seal the trunk off. Thats what I would do anyway.
