No offense, I do appreciate your tenacity in making the forum a more productive entity, but in the future please contact me first in regards to something on my personal profile before you take the liberty of making changes to it. If it was "Stupidly" long, you could simply have PM`d me and I would have gladly altered it to meet the criteria. Tuned. Nice car. I will say one thing though. You're better off adding the pictures to this thread, people are very lazy and having to click a link, flick through then come back to make a comment on a picture they can't quote will make things too much trouble. WhiteyMack Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Small Update. Finally got the entire box smooth with 50 grit. Then sanded with 120grit, And now letting putty dry. Tomorrow ill sweep the floor and lay down some water on the floor to keep dust down so that I can primer, wetsand, then shoot it.. I also have to (at some point in the next few days) pull the door panels. I need to pull the oem harmon kardon tweets out and replace them with the new blaupunkt P-Cell tweeters. Stay tuned. Im planning on having this installed either late saturday or early sunday... Off to bed.. Good night all.

I personally feel that its not the best solution in and of itself. But I will say, I have done many larger systems with single compression chambers utilizing multiple drivers, and as long as caution is taken they turn out very successful. The main things I concern myself with (and this is not science fact mind you) and especially with acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosures is, i try to over size the box a bit to decrease the pressure level inside the box, and I always put damping material (polyfill) inside to decrease turbulence. I feel the polyfill will aid in the ruduction of standing wave radiation caused in the box, another method is to offset the angle of your baffle as opposed to the opposing wall. Now granted standing wave radiation doesnt seem to be as much of a problem inside a sealed enclosure as it would probably be in a vented one (at least that is what I keep telling myself), because in a vented one you want it to perform just like an exhaust system on a car, you want as much air as you can get flowing smoothly out of the port. The biggest issue I see with a single compression chamber is, if one driver fails, it can possilby cause the remaining drivers to go beyond XMech and bottom out, or cause harm in some other way. And of course with a setup like this you definitely want to make sure all of the drivers come from the same A/C signal source, or at least from a proffessionally matched set of amps. So my thoughts? if you are building a small system with limited enclosure space, I would multi-chamber the box, but if you have the space a larger enclosure with a single chamber works pretty well. In all reality though multi-chambered would be the best solution if at all possible. I chose not to chamber this box for one, since Im only using a skill saw to cut pieces I am having to sand all edges with a long block to ensure perfect fit (because skill saws arent perfect) and this is taking a lot of time already, and two I wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible. I already can barely lift the box now. lol of course I am getting fat and old ha ha . Heading back out there, gotta finish sanding and then primer and paint. If at all possible this thing will be in the car tonight. Luckily everything is still in place from when I had the Kickers in there so itll just be plug and play and then some tuning.
WhiteyMack Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 All filler is sanded except for one spot on the back that is drying, (had a high spot where I temporarily added extra screws for the bracing while the glue dried) Once that piece is sanded Im moving it outside for primer. If the paint dries quick enough Ill hopefully have it installed tonight. Looking at about 4 coats of high gloss black, I may wet sand with 1200 between the first two coats (not sure yet). More to come.

In a BMW you dont just slap a box together, it just wouldnt be prudent. So ive taken a lot of time to make sure this thing will be very nice looking. lol I used almost two large bottles of gorilla glue on this thing. b-eazy could probably drive over this thing with his hummer ha ha .. And as for my babies? They are my best friends. I go to school full time, and am a stay at home dad (a.k.a. Mr. MOM). So the kids and I do everything together. The 5 year old (on the left) likes to sit with me and watch flex vids on Realm of Excursion. As a side note, Im the one who does the girls hair, and what is funny is She said to me last night, "Daddy will you straighten my hair with the straightener?" I said why shorty, she said " Because when you get that bass in your car I wanna do a hair trick" lol .... Now thats a true basshead. Anyway, back to work. Thanks for watching.
