Raptorman Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 This is just some constructive criticism, love SHCA. But I just ordered the 8Ga CCA Speaker wire and I liked it at first. But up until yesterday when I went to tear it down the middle seam so I could strip the jacket and put terminals on it and such, the jacket would tear all the way through on the blue side. And the jacket that got torn off was on the white side of the wire. So for a few inches I would have slightly exposed wire.Here's what I'm talking about, the picture isn't so great so hopefully you can see what I'm talking about. This is just a concern of mine. It happened 4 separate times when I went to split the wire. Just wanted to let you know about it Jon. Other than this the wire is great!Thanks guys! Couldn't get it right. Emmet Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) What way are you stripping the wire? Just slice around the jacket with stanley knife where you want it stripped to. It won't tear down the seam then. Well it will tear down the seam, but not past where you have the cut around. CJ18 Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Gotcha. The only time I have seen wire tear like that is when it was cut. If you dont hit the seam perfect and clip on side, it will tear like that. Quote

scoobywrx05 Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Don't know if you tried it or not but after making the cut to get it started keep one wire in one hand pointed towards the ceiling and pull the other wire straight towards the floor. The increase of that angle will make it want to tear where it is suppose to. Quote
