99 s10 blazer from 4x4 to 2wd ?

Recommended Posts

The transfer case on my 4x4 blazer went out and will cost a grip to fix. My question is how hard would it be it convert it to a 2wd? I don't ever use the 4x4 because of my wall so I won't miss it. Thanks in advance .

If i'm not mistaken, all you would have to do is remove your t-case from your tranny, ditch the front drive shaft, and get a 2wd tail housing. Check around on some of the Blazer and S10 blazer forums though. You'll probably have to get a longer driveshaft too.

Thanks. I looked around and found that the frame from a 4wd is different from a 2wd. So just thinking of selling mine and buying a 2wd.

Yeah chevy has done that for a long time. Ford used the same frames for 2/4wd models up until the late 90's body change.

Depending on miles, you could probably do a straight trade if you could get it back close to factory. There is a TON of 2wd 4 door s10 4.3 blazers in Texhoma.

Yah I don't think that's going to happen. To fix the transfer case would be cheaper than going back to stock

you can get a reman on rockauto for about $650 after your core then swap it out yourself

I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England.

Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.

  • 2 weeks later...

The frame is different. Chevy has used different frames for 2wd trucks because they've used a different front axle setup between 2wd and 4wd since like 74, A-arms with coils on each side. Ford didn't have to until the 97/98 body style change because Ford either used a solid axle or a Twin Traction Beam on the 4wd trucks, or a Twin I Beam setup on the 2wd trucks.
