Joe X Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 You're welcome, never mind, glad to help out, if you have any questions let me know.
Iceewyte Posted May 22, 2013 Author Report Posted May 22, 2013 I actually do have a question. This will be my first slot port box build, with that said, building a slot port seems a little intimidating. I know you gave me all the cut information but is round ports a realistic option? It's just something that I'm more comfortable with.
Joe X Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 It would mess up the whole design above, would need to port to the side and then change the sub placement since the aeros would likely unload the sub in the current position. From first time builders I have never seen anyone doing the port wrong, what usually happens is that people don't do their cut straight which results in leaks, the other common issue is that guys will give dimensions without taking into account how the box goes in and they are sometimes left with a box that can't install, typically in trunk cars.
KiKaZz74 Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 i got bored and made you a realistic looking version. enjoy My SPL to SQ Build Log Vehicle:1997 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4 2009 Dodge Journey SXT5.2L V8 Magnum 3.5L V6 Stock AltEquipment: Headunit- Alpine CDE-147BT Mids/Highs Amp- JL Audio G6600 Class AB 6 Channel Sub Amp- Hifonics BRZ1700.1D @ 2 Ohms Taramps DSP3000.1D Sub- Hertz Hi Energy 12" HX300D SounDrive SDA3 12 Tweeters- Rockford Fosgate Power Series Silk Domes Hertz Hi-Energy Mids- Dayton Audio Reference 4" Full Range Drivers Midbass- Silver Flute 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" Processor- MiniDSP 2x4 RCA- 6 channels of SounDrive HF series Wire- EB Flex 2/0 -Member of Team SounDrive
Iceewyte Posted May 24, 2013 Author Report Posted May 24, 2013 Nice man. Now that the weekend is finally here I can start on it. I deliver beer for a living and these weeks before holidays are absolutely nuts. I just checked out your build, looks good. How is the Brutus holding up for you? I've got the BRZ2400.1D. I was curious about mounting the amp on the box like you did though. Any issues? This box will take up the majority of my extended cab so my options are pretty limited.
KiKaZz74 Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 What truck? But amp is good. I rma ed mine cuz bassknob broke and shorted in amp. But can take tons of abuse. I feel like it does what it says. I'd like steve to put one on the ad1 and see tho. But nice amp for the price. I have mine on a dbl baffle with 6rubber washers between feet and baffle. Rattles a bit. Stuffed a washrag behind it and solved. Iceewyte Posted May 24, 2013 Author Report Posted May 24, 2013 I've got a 2002 Sonoma. I'll probably end up mounting it on the box but I'd really rather not. I HATE the sight of wires. 0ga isn't very easy to hide though. I had thought about mounting it to the back of the box but that would take another 2-3" of leg room away. I really like the paint job on your box. I may have to steal that idea. I was wanting to use bed liner your sand and paint idea will be so much cheaper. How does it look in person?
KiKaZz74 Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 The pics look same in person honestly. It does rub off if u rub it a lot but so far very durable. Maybe mount on top or opposite side of the sub? Rubber spacers on top and bottom of feet. I didn't on top that's where my rattles come from probably. Iceewyte Posted May 30, 2013 Author Report Posted May 30, 2013 Well the box is done-ish. I still have to build a support on the bottom to keep it from rolling forward. Also paint. Thanks again Joe for the design. I'm finally getting those lows that I wanted.
Joe X Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Looks nice and solid and you did round the edges of the port. Well done Iceewyte. .
