look at the bash amps or Dayton plate amps on parts express. The focals are gone but they have others that will fit you needs for some good little 2way wall mount or corner mounted speakers. Musics in stereo don't east your time worrying about different surround sound modes. Make sure it will play all channels with only RCA inputsbor that it has a and b front channels. Mine wont play rear channels on music so I use channel a and b for the front and have two sets of bookshelves I built.

Due to the fact that space is of little issue in homes audio, you can do a lot with a little. If you didn't mind having a huge sub enclosure a Dayton classic 18 on a 250 watt plate amp will rock your socks on a budget.

There is near limitless possibilities just looking at speakers on parts express, and as mentioned their forum is full of knowledgeable people who can help you with crossover design and driver selection. We (at least I) here can also help with driver selection. (Although I know little about crossover design, but parts express has assembled crossovers)

Just need a budget, goals, and size restraints for me to help pick out drivers for you. :)

*New vehicle and system coming soon.*

Um I was looking for recievers around or under $300 and I didnt need amazing speakers since its just gonna be out in the garage with the doors open most of the time. I was thinking like $40 per pair of tweets and mids. I could go up if theres better for a little more but I dont really need top notch stuff. Just enough to handle the power and make noise while im working out there haha

Get a lepai 2020a+ best 25$ I ever spent. I have it hooked up to a pair of KLH three way tower speakers with 12in woofers I picked up for $20 which already has a 3 way crossover built in to it. You pick up a Bluetooth dongle for like 45$ and your set. Just wanted to throw that out there. Not going to get you 5.1 surround sound but they sound damn good for cheap. I'll try to get a vid up tonight.

the problem with crossovers is they change with driver selection. The premade crossovers from Dayton are for a certain woofer and tweet if I remember correctly..that would probably be perfect for your budget and needs and be much easier then building your own crossovers. once you get a receiver you can better match the drivers and final ohm load to what the rwceiver is capable of. You meantioned a Yamaha one..im running a old Yamaha receiver in my room, can only wire to 8ohm..not 4ohm but I bet the 2sets bookshelf s I have would be more then enough for your garage...with a sub it would be perfect.

if u have room you should do a transmission line..you can tune real low.

I'm still a newb, but I enjoy ordering the closeout drivers on parts expres and playing with them, if you want some help, or suggstions or want to see what I have built and played with so far hit me up with a PM, I will reply faster as I keep forgetting to check this thread. I dislike subbing to threads because I get email notifications.

Receivers look at the new 5.2 from Sony, or any Onkyo. Speakers I would go with http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=292-406 with a bandpass starting at 80-125 and cut at 4500 or so. For tweeters I would use http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=270-182 with a high pass at 3500 or so. As for the low end I suggest 2 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=292-412 ran off a http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-750.

The crossovers you are describing will cost much more then those drivers to build properly, and exceed the budget he laid out...
