flood77
so ive seen subs mounted with the magnet to the outside vs the traditional way why would you do this and what would you be achieving?
Krakin
more airspace inside of the box because you are removing the displacement caused by the sub. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. Mlcantin
More airspace inside of box. Heard it lowers tuning a little bit as well but I may be mistaken
flood77
more airspace inside of the box because you are removing the displacement caused by the sub. ok so for instance my box is about 1.8 probaly alitle smaller ported tuned at 35hz bass still is more loud than feel i would prefer it the other way and i would guess that more airspace would be need to achieve that so without building another box for 4 12's would it be worth trying that. i have a ext cab sierra walled with 4 sa-d4 12's

Krakin
1.8 cubes for 4 12's? Edit: saw the walled part so I assume that is 1.8 per 12? mothra
some subs have a more appealing basket and motor and some like to show it off. like a chic with a nice butt, they wear yoga pants or daisy dukes to show it off. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
Krakin
^^ that too. Most people just build a box to include the motor inside of it. I feel that when you have the subs inverted then you are taking up more cabin airspace than if you just built it to include the subs. Also note that inverting subs will lower the tuning of your box.
