Di-electric grease is what you're "supposed to" put on spark plugs and such because of the heat handling and anti seize capabilities (at least that's what my automotive electrical instructor always said)

I dont think di eltric grease would be good in this aplication. In a staionary object such as spark pligs and computer cpus( all iv ever herd it being used for) it does great. Just my 2c take it as you may. But total props for building a sub out of a box of magnets

Doesn't dielectric grease disrupt electrical current flow?

True its great for heat anti seize and conductivity of heat between metals idk what it would do with friction anyways I'm just trying to help him save a lol money after everything he's sunk into this build

Between connectors yes but since you're using magnetic current and not direct contact I thought it might be worth a shot

I wondered that too, but I'm not expecting the get excursion like a zv4 lol, but I know they use ferrofluid in midrange motors gaps and on the coils already, so I figured with my magnetic and coil combo it would be plausible. But if it splashes out, maybe it will only release the excess amount, while the necessary amount would be too greatly attracted to the neo? I imagine it would be difficult for a significant amount to escape such a strong magnetic field?

I could be wrong about using it in woofer motors though, there's a reason they don't come factory filled like mids and tweets, it's mostly effective for high frequencies.

Edit: after more researching I see the problem is that the splashing occurs in woofer when no vents below the gap are present, and it took me a while to realize, my motor couldn't be much more open lol.....it won't have that pocketed air effect that people seem to be describing as the main problem. Now I'm just concerned with how it will react to the excursion of the woofer, since that basically causes it to thicken over time from what I understand, or at least speeds up the process since the nano-particles will agglomerate after a few years. Also read something about it being bad because the coil needs breathing room when it is non-linear at low frequencies and the fluid is in the way? But I'm not sure how accurate that is,

I wasn't sure if it could mess with the coil or not, but I guess it could work if it didn't affect the current in the VC at all, I wasn't sure about it, never used it or studied about it before.

I do know they uses PPEs for like jet engines, maybe that might work instead.

No it wouldn't mess with the vc as its not connecting to anything on the actual coil its just a long peice of copper wrapped around itself plus they either glue or tape the coil

My bro (crew chief in air force) said ppe could work but he's more familiar with ptfe (the stuff I mentioned earlier) although most commonly ptfe is used as thread sealer its still self lubricating and has a very low coefficient of friction and extremely heat resistant around 400f temp (straight from his mouth ) anyone want a brother???
