what is the benifit of a line driver?

my deck has 4V out that goes into a KX3 and from there to eclipse, kicker, and audiobahn. a line driver increases voltage right? what is the benefit of that?

nothing, gutted

Usually its to boost voltage so that theoretically you dont have to turn your amps gain as high. Which in turns means your amp doesnt have to work as hard to put out the same voltage.

But you need to be careful. Some amps like lower input voltages and sometimes you can burn out inputs on amps if its too much.

this be bad for rf amps than?

i dont see why it would be bad for an rf amp, considering they make the rf 360 BLD. i would actually take the time and look into the particular amps you would like to use and see what input voltage they can take.

ya but the line driver is on the RCA not the Power. so they still get the power they need. Ive used a line driver before and had it about 3/4 up and gain on amp completely down, getting plenty of power to run the subs i had to there full potential.

im going to have to look into this, i dont see specs for max voltage on the website and the other amps are rather old... anyone know what the max voltage is for a kicker ZX2500.1 (2006 model), eclipse 3402, audiobahn A275HC?

i personally only use RF bld or audiocontrol line drivers. i dont see what the max rca input voltage is on that amp, so not sure.. but if you do look threw systems on line videos etc, you can see line drivers here and there.
